'LATE LOUNGE' - SCRIPT EDITOR & CAMERA OPERATOR

My second role as script editor and supervisor for another course-mate Jack Marsden, differed wildly from the first.
The main difference was the non-fictional format - Late Lounge is a multi-camera production of an evening variety show; similar in structure to BBC Radio One Live Lounge.
Despite having produced a multi-camera production in years prior - informative panel show Let’s Go to the Movies - my role back then was that of a Gallery PA, one focused more on timings rather than content.
However, regardless of familiarity, I was eager to discover how and why this was different; and whether it was something I would be well-suited for in terms of career(s) opportunities.
The main obstacle I faced was the overall lack of speech within the production as a whole. Of course, the acts and performers speak via VTs, but the idea is for those to be as sincere and personal as possible - giving those involved an outline rather than a fully formed script.
Majority of lines went to the presenter, Charlie, whose main function was to inform and address the audience, using language that is not only inviting and professional, but sounds natural.
In addition to my pre-production role of script-editor, I was also utilised as a one of four camera operators on the day of filming.
Now, as is mentioned on my biography page, I enjoy forming narratives using a variety of different methods, so it was an interesting and helpful experience being behind the camera, as I could experiment with different shots and angles, evoking various emotions and connotations in doing so. Not to mention, my earlier work on the script allowed me a more in-depth look and knowledgeability of what mood was required for each individual act.
